A simple rinse with clean water is enough after each use. Avoid the dishwasher, as it can damage the surface and accelerate the oxidation of copper.

The Lemon + Salt Method
Once a week, gently rub the inside and outside with lemon juice or white vinegar and a pinch of fine salt. Leave it for 1–2 minutes, then rinse and dry. Regular cleaning helps keep your copper bright and beautiful.

Don't Let Tarnish Build Up
Inside and out, clean your copper regularly instead of allowing it to darken over time. A quick and simple routine is enough to keep it looking bright.

Yes. Drinking from a copper bottle has been recommended for thousands of years in Ayurvedic tradition. The amount of copper transferred to the water is very small. We recommend drinking 2 to 3 glasses per day from your The Ashwell™ bottle, ideally starting with one glass in the morning.
This is completely normal. Copper naturally interacts with the water, which can create a subtle mineral taste. This often becomes less noticeable after a few days of use once the bottle is properly seasoned. You can also rinse the bottle with lemon water before first use.
Each The Ashwell™ bottle is made from 99.9% certified solid pure copper — with no alloy and no coating. It is made in India by artisans whose craftsmanship has been passed down through generations and is hammered entirely by hand. This hand-hammering process gives every bottle its unique texture, meaning no two pieces are exactly alike.
The magnet test: hold a magnet against the bottle.
It should not stick. Pure copper is not magnetic; if the magnet
sticks strongly, there may be steel or another metal beneath a
copper-plated surface.
The patina: over time, copper naturally develops a
darker tone through regular use and contact with water. This is a
normal characteristic of authentic copper rather than a defect. It
can be cleaned at any time using lemon and salt.
Cleaning is simple and natural. Once a week, fill the bottle with a mixture of water and lemon juice, or use a small amount of sea salt. Leave it for 5–10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Never put the bottle in the dishwasher and avoid chemical cleaners or abrasive sponges. Slight oxidation of the copper is normal.
We recommend using the bottle only with still water. Acidic drinks such as lemon juice, fruit juice, soft drinks and hot beverages can accelerate copper oxidation and affect the taste. For traditional Ayurvedic use, allow filtered or tap water to sit in the bottle for at least 6–8 hours, ideally overnight.
The Ashwell™ bottle is made from non-insulated pure copper, so it is not designed to maintain temperature like an insulated bottle. The water will remain around room temperature. For best use, prepare your water the night before and drink it within 24 hours.
